Rookhope Smelt Mill 

Rookhope Arch in County Durham currently stands alone in a field.
Originally this arch was one in a line of six, built to support a horizontally running chimney which extended for a mile and a half up the adjacent hillside.
The chimney carried lead fumes from the old lead smelting works which occupied the site from the 1880s as seen illustrated here below,
