Ivinghoe Beacon Hillfort

Dates from between the late Bronze age and early Iron age (eighth to fifth century BC).
A Hillfort is a type of earth works used as a fortified settlement and is often located to exploit a rise in elevation for defensive advantages.

Ivinghoe hillfort is located in the Chiltern Hills in Buckinghamshire and is known as a ‘Univallate’ type which means it has a single circuit of ramparts.
